The state government has taken action against those who sell fried peas with artificial colours. In this regard, health department officials have been instructed to collect samples of fried peas and send them to the lab. Samples have already been collected and action has been taken in some areas, and an order to ban the use of colour is likely to be issued after the lab report comes in.

In the wake of news circulating on social media about the use of artificial colours in the preparation of fried green peas, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has instructed the collecting officers and food safety officers to collect samples of green peas being sold across Karnataka and send them to government food laboratories (state and divisional food laboratories) for analysis.
